Procrastinating from homework.

Weekend was pretty awesome. Got my cellphone finally, an LG enV2. I’m a big fan of it, it does what I need it to do. The keypad works great, call quality is awesome, and it’s nothing too big either. I get a free month of internet with it too so I’ve been toying around with that. Gmail and LJ mobile work great, though I can’t log into Facebook because of the server certificates. Probably due to HTTPS or something, I need to read up and figure out what’s causing it.

Friday night I spent the majority of the night doing homework, and got nearly all of it done (hence the procrastinating right now). Only a couple essays to write and I’m free for a couple days. Liz came home a little after midnight and we just hung around, I think? Either my memory is going to crap or that’s really what we did. There was just so much that went on over the weekend it’s really a blur.

Saturday we hung out with Liz’s friend Morgan. It’s fun hanging out with people because usually we’re on our own all weekend long. I’ve really distanced myself from a lot of people here locally (work and school really eats up all my time) and Liz doesn’t know many people in the area outside of work. So we went shopping around Carousel, where I got some clothes and Morgan proceeded to ogle my butt (apparently it’s cute). I got my phone as stated, from the Verizon store. Also bought a book at Borders. 37 of Sherlock Holmes novels with original illustrations, for $7. Quite the steal. Afterwards, we headed out to some other stores around town. We all headed back to the apartment, ordered pizza, and proceeded to laugh and question the plotholes of Uwe Bolle’s masterpiece House of the Dead. I’m a fan of bad horror movies, but that one’s cutting it close. Afterwards we made a Wegmans run for some gummy fruit (Liz’s favorite) and breakfast foods for the morning.

Today we slept in – seemingly typical for us on Sundays it seems – then went out to the boulevard for some more errands. Liz got herself an awesome fishtank at the pet store in Shoppingtown. The clerk at the desk was extremely shady and shaved a ton of money off the price of it provided we didn’t take the receipt. 28 gallon tank with a bowed front, and the whole kit of extras that goes with it, for only $65? alright, sure! Headed to a Petco afterwards so Liz could get some more accessories for the tank, and to Marshalls where I got a sweet deal on some running sneakers for $30. I wanted to get back into running but my casual sneakers are definitely not the type to go running in.

Had dinner at Kirby’s, forgetting that there’s a serious lack of vegetarian items on the menu for Liz. I’m going to remember that from now on. I wanted Thai so badly but the local Thai place is closed until June. No fun.

Came back to the apartment and set up the fish tank. It was quite the process getting it all set up but all that’s left is for the water to filter itself and drop the fish in :) Unfortunately I had to leave after that since I have silly homework to complete. Ah well. We both get Memorial Day off next week so we’re definitely looking forward to that.

SAY SPEED RAVE.

Rave + castle + live electronics from these guys makes for one pretty amazing time.

I took a lot of photos and some video on Liz’s camera, so those will come soon.

Pretty much my entire legs (especially my ankles) are killing me from dancing for almost 8 hours so I think I’m going to bed early.

Also, Usual Suspects is an awesome movie and if for some stupid reason you haven’t watched it before you are missing out.

‘Sup promotion?

I’ve been promoted to head of QA for the company I work for. I will be doing the quality checking/auditing and manual-writing. I officially started today, auditing refurbished goods and ensuring they were tested correctly. I also started rewriting the manual which guidelines the entire testing process, too. A lot’s been changed since that manual was written, most of it due to me. Who better to rewrite it, eh?

I now get a company email address, get included in business meetings, and *gasp* a company laptop that I can take home with me. Which actually means I’ll be able to pick and choose any one of the laptops that go through our warehouse. Acer’s got some pretty sweet machines, that’s for sure. I’m a bit weary on using Vista but I’ll probably dual-boot it with Ubuntu. And I need Vista there because my work requires me to use it 90% of the time.

More responsibility = more $$$ too. I haven’t officially gotten a raise yet because they wait until the 3-month mark for that. Quite convenient that my 3-month is just a little over a week away.

I’m pretty stoked. I was blown away this morning when we had our company meeting and during the Powerpoint there was an entire slide that outlined my new job to everyone. Wasn’t really expecting that, but now everyone knows who to yell at when they’re told they’re doing something the wrong way. Lucky me. I’m sure it won’t be so bad though… if people do their job right, they have
nothing to worry about.
