Amazing weekend with an amazing girl.

Liz came over for the weekend and I could barely hold my excitement for being with her – I didn’t much sleep Friday night, I was up until about 3am on Skype with a bunch of people and having a fantastic time. She showed up Saturday around noon, and from then on we had an amazing time together.

We took a trip downtown, which despite contrary belief isn’t too bad of a place. We visited the Musem of Science and Technology, which sadly was a little bit of a letdown. Nearly half the place was filled with K’Nex exhibits talking about physics, not as much hands-on stuff as there usually is. But we did get to see a live demonstration of someone playing with liquid nitrogen. And got to look and play with all the other cool science exhibits they had there. We went to the planetarium too, that was fun. I’ve always been fascinated by the stars and the moon, so I liked that a lot.

After the museum we wandered around the streets, passing by small shops and stopping into a couple. I had to take her to the Hot Shoppe because if there’s one store to visit in the square, it’s that. And we both love hot sauces and spices. Visited the local trendy downtown record store too, because we’re, uh, so trendy. Didn’t buy anything though, just browsed around for a while.

Came back to the house, watched some CSI for a while. Then my mom made us some awesome homemade pizza for dinner. Deeeelicious. After dinner, Liz and I made buckeyes, which is quite possibly the most amazing dessert. If you don’t know what they are, I suggest you look them up. This would be the case if you’ve never been to/lived in Ohio (My aunt used to live in Toledo).

After our baking experience we took off to Lights on the Lake which was Liz’s first time going, and she really enjoyed it. I go every year since it’s practically in my backyard (the park is a quarter mile from me) and it’s always enjoyable to go.

Came back and spent the rest of the night watching Farce of the Penguins and just being extremely happy to be together.

Today we went shopping, to Kohl’s, Target, Wal-Mart, and the various stores at the mall. Watched Dogma afterwards, and spent time playing Sonic 2. Had dinner, and before long Liz had to take off back home. I miss her already.

American Gangster was pretty awesome.

Not as awesome as Liz, though.

Speaking of, we made our relationship “official.”

Life is good.

I live for the weekend.

Yet another weekend adventure with Liz, this one has definitely topped the last ones.

I took a trip out to Cooperstown where she lives, and I feel quite un-American for NOT visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hey, I walked by it. That should count for something, right?

The town is actually pretty beautiful once when you get away from the typical tourist trap attractions.

The view of Otsego lake is pretty amazing this time of year, with all the Fall colors.

There’s a state park nearby Liz’s house too, which is pretty much on the lake. The beach was closed (for obvious reasons) but we stopped by there and wandered around for a while too. It was nice. Stopped at her house for a bit, and we were off to Howe Caverns with a couple of Liz’s friends.

Liz’s parents raise farm animals, by the way. I was pretty jealous.

Howe Caverns is a very awesome place. Pretty much you travel underground 150 feet, the tour guide shows you a bunch of the rock formations, and take a boat ride in the cavern since there’s water running naturally inside. It was really amazing.

The place was massive, it took nearly an hour to travel from one end to the other.

They carved a heart out of a calcite formation that was in the ground, and lit it. They tell a story that if a married couple stands on it and kisses, they will have an amazing second honeymoon. It was cute.

The real fun started on the way back, though. All the lights get cut, you’re split into pairs, separated by at least 100 feet, and you travel back with only a couple lanterns. While it’s not like you can get lost, it’s just really amazing seeing everything from an explorer’s point of view. Everything is pitch black except where your light is being shone.

It was definitely an experience wandering back with only a couple of these.

I put up more pictures in my gallery so definitely check them out there.

After the caverns we grabbed some food at a local diner, split from Liz’s friends, and headed back to her house. We hung around with her parents for a bit and watched the end of Talladega Nights, then headed outside with some blankets and did some stargazing. We had a pretty clear view of the northern sky so we saw a lot of awesome formations. Lots of shooting stars, too. It was a really nice way to end the night.

I had a ton of fun, and I’m always looking forward to what we’re going to do next.
