Meme responses.

Sorry it took a little bit for me to get this done, but it’s just been hectic lately.

epilonious wanted to see my PC setups, so here we go:

meme1
my main PC, a 1.6ghz P4 with 768mb of RAM. Runs Ubuntu Linux 7.04. 95% of the time I’m online, I’m using this computer.

meme2
my media PC, a 1ghz Athlon with 768mb of RAM. Runs Windows XP. Has a 5.1 sound card w/ speakers and TV output. Works great for watching movies and playing oldschool ROMs.

Since we’re in the basement, Tora wanted to see all of that:

You can see the media PC setup a bit better, with the TV output. There’s a PS2 over there too. Also is my workout bench which helps me get all muscular so I can impress the ladies. Hah. Right.

meme4
Other side of the basement. Some old clothes on a rack (not mine) and my MIDI keyboard. If I ever feel the urge to play Konstantine, Clocks, Boston, or some other extremely sappy and emo song, I have that to help me. Also the huge blue exercise ball is just tons of fun.

My alcohol, requested by AJ and Peem:

meme5
I’ve drank a lot more in my time aside from these three bottles, but these are my favorite kinds so I kept them. Surprisingly, Pucker is the least alcoholic out of them all but I have the greatest tendency to get sick off of it because of how sweet it is. I prefer the vodka more than anything, honestly.

My Pen – Thanks, Kait:

meme6
Pilot Easytouch Medium. Believe it or not I swear by these pens. I also realize that the real request was probably of my penis (which Lissa flat-out asked for) but I’m afraid I’m not that bold.

My favorite place to be, per Mandy:

meme7
The deck out back I love to be on. It’s relaxing just chilling out there on the phone, or doing Sudoku puzzles to clear my mind, or in the rare occasion I can steal my sister’s laptop and get wifi. At night I get a pretty decent view of the sky too.

My, uh, sump pump:

meme8
For some reason Jarred is highly amused at the fact that there’s a sump pump in my basement. If anything it just annoys me because it makes loud noises while I’m trying to watch movies (it’s on the other side of my basement I didn’t bother taking photos of).

Mandy stole it from me so I’m stealing it back.

Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you’re interested in/curious about – it can be anything from the house I live in to my favourite shoes. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.

Been a while since I did that.

Today, I bought something for myself. I rarely buy myself things anymore, the “pleasure” kind that actually has some long-standing value to it that I can use over and over again. Went to the local gaming store and picked up a Street Fighter PS2 fighter controller. You know, the one where the L and R buttons are on the front of the pad, rather the top. Laid out pretty much like a Saturn controller. Only cost me $20, too. Last time I went looking around for one, it was $30 at least because they come in the nice box and have a comic in it. So I now have a decent pad to play fighters on, because we all know how bad it is playing on a normal PS2 pad. Currently updating my MAME set too, I haven’t updated since .112 and I now it’s at .116. No idea how much has changed, but at least now I’m up to date.

My sister has come home from her job in Cali, which means she’s lugging her laptop around the house. Now, my DI-624 router either a) really sucks at wireless, or b) is located in a really bad position in the house. She can’t hold a steady connection. Normally this wouldn’t bother me so much, but the problem is that when her connection dies, the connection dies to everyone else in the house, even though every other connection is wired. Now, the router is under the computer desk up against the wall, upstairs. She’s using it downstairs. But even in her room (which is directly across the hall, not even 15 feet from the router) the laptop doesn’t get a full connection. So I don’t know if it’s the router sucking or what. I’m going to get an antenna cable so I can at least get the antenna out in the open instead of it being under the desk, that may solve the problem. I remember going over to Jess’ house and her computer having the same problem because the router was stashed away inside the desk instead of out in the open, I’m going to assume it’s the same issue here.

I’ve had a splitting headache since I came home today. And as much as I don’t want to blame it on the school’s HVAC system even though they fixed it, I think I will. Because now the entire building is FREEZING. It physically exhausts me and just makes me feel uncomfortable. I’m going to start bringing my sweaters with me again, I don’t care if it’s June. This is just getting ridiculous.

Work’s died down, thankfully. I can focus more on my last quarter of classes and the other side projects I have going on. Have a meeting Saturday out in Oswego for some web design job, my net admin hooked me up with this one. The outlook looks pretty good from what he’s told me, I’ll know for sure when the time comes.

Final quarter’s schedule

Monday: Work 11-6
Tuesday: Class 9-9:30 (break from 4-6 but who’s counting, chances are I’ll be doing schoolwork then anyway)
Wednesday: Work 12-6
Thursday: Class 9-4
Friday: Work 11-6

Weekends off, hooray.

Looking for network admin jobs across the country at the other ITT schools. Chances are good that I can shoe myself into a position at another school doing just what I’m doing now, just full-time and at a higher pay rate. And getting 80% off my bachelor’s. I can get blessings from nearly any employee in the building. 7 openings right now all over the country, chances are that’ll change in 10 weeks though. Crossing my fingers for one in Florida. If not, I’ll just have to figure something else out…

Can this end, please? Pretty please?

Just when I thought that my work at school was actually going to come to an end, it never did. The computers that were supposed to come in STILL haven’t come in. We thought Friday, but no. Then they said Saturday, but no. Now they’re saying Monday morning. So we keep getting these guarantees from Dell and DHL, but they keep falling through on us.

So yeah I had to be there yesterday, which was supposed to be a day off. I took Thursday off instead, which actually wasn’t too bad because I was able to break up the long work week for working 9 hour days. Today being Sunday, nobody’s going to be there. And the school’s quarter starts tomorrow, so I’ll be there at 9am (hopefully) with computers in the doorway for us to work on. But I’m not holding my breath, we could be hanging around all day and not have them come in until 5pm. Then that would REALLY suck because since I have class on Tuesday I won’t be able to help as much.

I was so exhausted after yesterday’s shift that after I came home and got something to eat, I passed out. For about 16 hours. Yeah I needed that. I feel so refreshed now, I’ve made up nearly all the sleep I’ve been missing over the course of the week. I really have trouble sleeping some nights, no idea why. Buuut I’m all better now!

This is also the reason why I haven’t been around much for the past 2 weeks… Working these long shifts that are physically draining doesn’t give me much energy when I get home to lounge around and talk to people. I usually lay in bed and watch a movie or some show on TV until I pass out, then I start the entire process over again the next day. I’ve kept contact with a few people, but that’s pretty much it. Hopefully after this is all over with I can get back to a more normal schedule.

Today I have some more “personal” work to take care of, meaning me sitting in front of a computer typing and mouse-clicking away. My sister comes home from Cali today too, so that will be an interesting scenario. She hasn’t been home since Christmas. Bringing all her stuff with her, looks like she’s not going back. But that’s a whole ‘nother story.

May as well grab some food and start the day off right. One of these days I’ll actually have a “day off”… who knows when that will be.

Facebook Apps: Best of the Lot (so far)

Facebook’s new Developer APIs are a HUGE hit, and I’m loving the amazing apps that are coming out. So many cool widgets can get seamlessly added into your profile, moved wherever, and still manage to cleanly integrate with the rest of the site. Here’s a few apps that I’m loving. If you don’t have them yet, give ‘em a shot.

Last.fm – While not the official app, it actually looks much better than it. It’s not flash-based, and shows only your most recently played tracks. I wish the official one was laid out this way, because the developer working on this hasn’t worked out all the kinks to make it work flawlessly. I have faith though, that everything will be fixed soon.

Free Gifts – I wish Facebook would take a cue from this and not charge for theirs. Now you can send and receive gifts without paying for it, and works nearly exactly the same as the official version. New gifts keep getting added too, which is great.

Graffiti – What better play on the idea of writing on someone’s “wall” then actually drawing on it? A nifty flash-based app lets you draw in a whole palette of colors, changing the thickness of the brush too. It’s thought out really well.

X Me – No longer are you limited to poking someone. Specify your own action! Hug, Kiss, Glomp, Give a Beer To, or whatever your heart desires.

Extended Info – Add in more info about yourself. Create your own categories, pertaining to whatever your interests in life are.

Files – Powered by box.net, you can upload and share files of any type through Facebook. With a gig of space, you have lots of room to play around.

And last but certainly not least…

Digg – Shows your 5 most recently dugg stories on your FB profile. Gotta show the love.
