Let’s go to the zoo!

And that’s exactly what I did today. Rest of the pictures are in the gallery, go check ‘em out.

Been busy fininshing up the quarter at school, finals abound so I’ve been distracted with that. Had to finish up publishing the source code to the tracker, removing any and all bugs I had come across. I’m working on some other small-game sites on the side, too, that’ll keep me occupied.

One more test tomorrow and I’m done for the quarter. I’ll be working my ass off the next couple weeks pulling in some extra cash, I could definitely use the money.

Downtown is fun, when they plow the damn sidewalks…

Weekend went over pretty well. School was closed Friday and Saturday because of the weather, so I didn’t have to go in to work the past couple days. Not complaining there at all. Kristi crashed here Friday, we watched One Missed Call 2. It wasn’t as good as the original, but still pretty decent for a Japanese horror movie. I’m going to look around and see if I can find more horror movies that originate in Japan, they seem to be much better than American horror movies, and MUCH better than American horror movies that were remade from Japan – Ring, I’m looking at you. I’ve already seen all three Ringu movies, both Ju-on’s, and now both OMC’s. I highly recommend One Missed Call, it’s pretty freaky. And much like Ringu and Ju-on, they’re giving it a remake and releasing it here stateside within the year. I hope it’ll at least be decent. The Grudge 2 wasn’t that bad of a remake, I will admit. Oh, and if anyone can recommend me some decent Japanese horror movies, I’m all ears.

Saturday I brought Kristi to her Praxis exam in East Syracuse. I came back here and watched Akira, which I hadn’t seen in about 10 or so years. SciFi actually used to play anime movies on saturday mornings, and I remember seeing this along with Galaxy Express 999 and Tank Police. But this was years ago before anime became really mainstream. Anyway, the movie was better than I remember it. Probably going to catch up on some other older anime at some point in time, when I’m not backlogged with work.

So I grabbed Kristi, we went out to lunch, and proceeded downtown. Now, the city of Syracuse is having this so-called “Winterfest” where they advertise all these cool things going on downtown to attend and whatnot. We went ice skating down in Clinton Square, which was pretty decent. They needed to take a Zamboni to the ice though, that’s for sure. And the ice skates gave me blisters on the back of my ankles. Ouch. But afterwards we went wandering around downtown. And the sidewalks weren’t even plowed. Now come on, you’re gonna advertise all these things to do, but not even give people the pleasure of plowed sidewalks to walk around? At any rate though, we went to the Sound Garden where I bought (gasp!) Anxorexic Beauty Queen’s album (which I’m listening to right now) and Kristi picked up Clerks II and American Beauty. Wandered around some more, stopped at the Hot Shoppe for some more Dave’s Insanity hot sauce (i ran out, unfortunately).

Came back here and just lounged for a little bit, I had a business meeting online to attend to so she napped a bit while I took care of that. we went back to Caz a little bit later, popped in the DVDs she bought and just relaxed for the night.

Today, much like every other Sunday I’ve spent down in Caz, was relaxing. We just hang around and watch TV, which is always welcomed after a long week of work and classes. Grabbed dinner at Subway, and I was gone by 9 or so. Been in my basement practicing piano for a while, getting better each time I go down there.

Tomorrow is a holiday so there’s no school. Gives me another day to just relax around the house.

Obligatory Valentine’s Day Post

So, usually people posting on Valentine’s Day can very easily be broken down into three major categories.

  • <insert affection for significant other here>
  • <insert hatred for holiday, mostly due to lack of significant other>
  • <insert apathetic view towards the holiday, calling foul on Hallmark and other corporations for perpetuating the holiday into some quasi-forceful method of significant others forcing to buy each other gifts in order to prove their love to one another>

For me, I’m just going to say that I got a cute bag with candy and a note from my girlfriend, and I’ll be with her this weekend. The weather’s been pure shite all week – and I’ve been poor – so I didn’t get the chance to take the trip out to see her. Today just feels like any other day for me really. Not that I’m complaining though, any other day is usually a good day.

The hard work paid off.

After learning about 10 weeks of material in 5 days, I tested out of the class. Even got a 96 on the final, I’m pretty stoked about that.

Now to just finish up the rest of the work week and relax in Caz for the weekend. Good times as always.

Oh this looks like fun.

I’m attempting to test out of the Database Development class at school later this week. So here is one of the pages I hilighted to hell and back because I’m sure it’ll be on the test, even though I’ll probably never have to remember it again in the real world.

The first 100 pages or so is all theory, there’s no actual SQL code anywhere. I write this stuff on a daily basis, can’t I just get credit for doing that?

XHTML, how I love and loathe thee.

Firstly, I apologize to those using my LJ feed, it kinda barfed on you all a few days ago. A server move will do that to a feed.

So XHTML, you can be a pain in the ass. Developers, always specify “px” or another method of measurement in length assignments in your CSS otherwise XHTML won’t know how to position your divs. I was frustrated for about 45 minutes last night trying to figure out why my divs weren’t put in the spot I told them to. That was annoying.

And I love how ImageReady hides the polygon image map tool. Click and HOLD down the button? Why can’t I just right-click? Sigh, maybe CS3 will be smarter.

Ah well, my frustrations have made me $50 richer. Gotta love web design jobs…
