This is probably going to be a much lengthier post than usual here. I’m hoping to take more advantage of this place, since I am paying a bill for it and it’s just a fancy theme with some pictures in the gallery.
School: ITT is good. I’m thoroughly enjoying my 3rd quarter there. I’m almost done with Q3, actually… next quarter’s my halfway point. Scary to think how fast it’s going by. I’m excited at the same time though. I’m learning a lot, doing stuff I like, and just overall having a really good time throughout it all. Programming’s been a breeze of a class, since VB.NET is cake for me to learn. I’ll get an A in there, easy. Math, same thing. I’ve been getting 90′s on all the tests and quizzes. Just learn the stuff and apply it to the exams, and I’m set. Networking Standards and Protocols though… that’s a toughie. I don’t like the quizzes at all. They count for so much and they trouble me to NO END. Everything else in the class I do just fine with. Homework, labs, etc… 90′s and 100′s across the board. The exams just kill me. I’m sure I’ll pull through though in the end… I did last semester with Mr. Sweeney, I can do it again. I get a few quarters off from him after this… don’t have a class with him until Q7. Bittersweet, I suppose. He’s a great guy, I just struggle in his class at times.
Like today. Presentation day. Group projects, to propose a networking structure for a mid-sized business. I had all my stuff set (the software end) and my group members had their stuff pretty well prepared. But for some reason a few of our slides in the powerpoint went missing, and my teammate Greg (who was in charge of the PPT) simply didn’t recreate them and add them back in. So we were missing 2-3 slides of info. Not the best. Thankfully we’re also getting graded on an individual basis, and I’m pretty sure we were one of the better groups out of the four that presented. I have hopes we got a decent grade. I’m hoping for an 85. Who knows if that’ll happen though.
Work: Still working 2 jobs, that hasn’t changed. ITT during the week, Wegmans on the weekend. Workstudy’s fun, though it can be a bit boring at times. Tutoring can be a tad stressful, but when I have nobody to tutor I kinda just sit there and do nothing. Teachers sometimes give me projects to work on, but that’s a rarity. I try to spend as much time with the network admin learning the stuff he does, and helping him out. The network admin gets his own workstudy to teach, and I’m hoping next quarter I can have that position since the guy who’s in it right now is graduating. I would totally love it.
As for Wegmans, the place has died. At least until the new store comes in. See, they’re rebuilding the new store next door so the current store is running out of product and ordering has been on the decline. So the shelves are all empty, customers aren’t coming in, and it’s just a lot of standing around. Granted I get paid a decent amount of money to do it (especially on Sundays) but I feel like I’m wasting my weekends. Ah well. the new store opens this weekend and things will get back to normal.
Rachel: Things are going pretty awesome. She had to move out of her mom’s house recently and into her dad’s, but it’s definitly a welcome change. She’s so much happier at her dad’s house. Her dad is so freaking awesome too. Great guy. Of course, Rach goes back to college this weekend, so I gotta help move her in. At least I get to spend the weekend with her. We’re going to Ichiban’s tomorrow for some fine Japanese cuisine. Cannot wait. Also, our one year anniversary is this weekend. We’re not making it out to be a big deal, but I’m just so happy I’ve found the one.
Other stuff: Keeping myself occupied doing web development, making friends at school, and missing those I used to hang out with. Though I did see Alex tonight, he turns 21 tomorrow so he was having a party at his house. It was really awesome seeing him again, made me realize how much I miss the guy. Definitly going to make it a priority to hang out with him more next time he’s home. And Justin’s been a workaholic lately – then again he’s always been one – so I hardly ever see him anymore.
Well I guess that wraps things up, I’ve been exhausted all day and I have to get some sleep; need to take the car in for repairs tomorrow and head off to work.
